BASF in India has a clearly outlined Safety,
Health and Environment policy signed by Mr. Prasad Chandran,
Chairman and Managing Director of the company. Every employee
is given the best available training to help him help BASF in India
to confirm to the policy.
BASF in India believes not only in the safety of its
employees but also of whole community. Keeping in mind that 'We
have borrowed this earth from our children', the employees at BASF
in India ensure that each product entering/leaving our site/warehouses
poses no danger to the community and the environment during its
entire lifetime. To give the above commitments a formal and an organized
shape, BASF in India has signed Responsible
Care commitment. BASF in India conducts quarterly reviews on
the adherence to the commitments. Our Mangalore site has taken the
lead by becoming the first BASF site in India to get ISO 14001.
We also have periodic Safety, Health and Environment
audits conducted by the Safety department of BASF AG in line with
BASF group's philosophy of ensuring the same level of Safety, Health
and Environment standards at all the BASF group sites. In these
audits various operations at various production sites and warehouses
are audited and the areas for improvement are identified. A time
bound action plan is prepared and implemented for the areas identified.
| BASF in India does not treat the
Safety and Environmental concerns as limited to its boundaries.
Our personnel have been actively participating in various experiences
exchange programs in India and abroad. They have been invited
as guest speakers on various safety and environment related

and a definite path has been identified for future. BASF in India
would be adhering to the principles of 'Sustainable Development'
in the time to come. In short, having a Safety, Health and Environment
policy which gives 'Safety, Health and Environmental Protection'
concerns precedence over economic considerations would be one of
